Bring the family along to this fun and interactive Heritage event, hosted by Jane Hurst, local historian and Dementia-friendly Alton
Weorod, a Re-Enactment and Living History society, run by a nucleus of seasoned re-enactors, who are passionate about bringing living history to the community

Weorod portrays the people of what some still refer to as the ‘Dark Ages’, from the time period that falls within the fifth to seventh centuries (425-680 or thereabouts).
Where possible the group focus on the archaeology of the local area, with most of the replicas being based on finds from Southern Hampshire, West Sussex, Southern Wiltshire and just into Surrey. Inspiring visitors to the event by sharing evidence from the local area as well as artefacts from elsewhere – with some ancient crafts and timed displays scheduled, the interactive event offers a vibrant and diverse approach to local history.
